Course Overview
Booking for course starting Thursday February 9th 2006 now open - click here to register your interest.
The Beginner's Course is an eight week course, aimed at those new to, or thinking about trying, digital photography. No experience is required - all sessions will be run as friendly and interactive learning experiences, so bring along your camera if you have one and prepare to enjoy yourself!
We'll look at different types of digital cameras and equipment, software for
your computer, and spend time on how to take pictures with the camera, and then
how to edit and manipulate them once transferred onto the computer. All
sessions will be aimed at showing participants how to do it for themselves, with
documentation and examples being made available as course handouts.
The idea of the course is to encourage participants to go and try things out themselves, and hopefully share their experiences and progress with the group as the course progresses. We also run a competition for the best photo taken during the course (judged by an independent party), with a prize for the winner awarded at the end of the course!
All
course participants will be provided with a CD at the start of the course.
This will contain a copy of all the software which is used during the course to
manipulate and edit photos - which software can be installed onto participant's
home PC's and used to practice techniques introduced on the course. All
the software provided will be free - no licence fees or extra to pay!
One of the later sessions on the course will be a field trip, where we will go out to take pictures and put all the the classroom work into practice! On the Oct-Dec 2005 course, this was a night shoot around the river Liffey in central Dublin, which proved a great success with everyone who came along - see the pictures here.
